In the Office
While most people are usually not terribly excited to come to the dentist's office, we strive to hear the opposite about our office. Give us a chance and you will see how we are changing the way people feel about dentistry! Our team is committed to excellence in everything we do; from the first phone call we get from you, to the moment you leave your appointment. Our staff has a commitment to making your dental experience as enjoyable as possible. Every one of our team members has been carefully selected for their position and has the same commitment to education and improving the way you receive dental care.

What Sets Us Apart?
We Educate and Empower You to Make Wise Choices for Your Smile
Every member of our team genuinely cares about your health and comfort. We encourage our patients to take an active role in their dental health through individual consultations, patient education and a variety of advanced treatment options. We listen to you so that we can better understand your needs and goals for a healthy smile. In addition, we strive to help you become more knowledgeable about how you can achieve and maintain excellent oral health for years to come.
We Believe Prevention Is the Key to a Lifetime of Healthy Smiles
The old adage “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!” is so pertinent to your oral health. Only when it comes to teeth, prevention can amount to a huge financial savings for you. Many dental problems can be avoided with prevention and education. When you’re with us, you’re never “just another patient”–you are a valued member of our practice family.
We Make It Easy to Get the Dental Care You Need
Dental care can be therapy for a TMJ problem, rejuvenation for a dull smile or restoration of teeth so you can chew and function in a normal, healthy and comfortable way. At West Lakes Dentistry, we understand there are different levels of care and want to make sure you get what you need. We accept a broad range of dental insurance plans and offer payment plans to help make the dental care you need affordable.
In addition, we understand that it can be difficult to fit dental visits into your busy schedule. That’s why we offer a convenient location at our beautiful, newly-renovated office, and offer convenient evening and early morning appointments. Your time is valuable!
We Look Forward to Your Visit!

Meet Dr. Stephanie Miner, DDS, MPH
Ever since I was a child, I loved working with my hands, taking things apart and putting them back together again. As a dentist, I am able to put this to good use all while helping people improve the quality of their lives. My work is never really work because I truly love what I do. Every day is exciting and brings new challenges and rewards. I get to meet so many new and exciting, interesting people and help them achieve their dental goals.
I am originally from Arizona and moved to Minnesota in 1997. My husband, Jim, and I have three fabulous children. Being a mom of three helps me to understand the demands of running a household while still keeping on top of everyone’s dental needs. You will find our practice to be very family friendly!
Like many of my patients, I never liked going to the dentist when I was growing up. I take every day as a new opportunity to help reshape people’s views about dentistry. Regardless of whether they are children or adults, I believe all patients deserve a positive dental experience.
Aside from dentistry, my hobbies include running, rollerblading, camping, skiing and spending time with friends. I love Minnesota and all the great things the state offers, especially four distinct seasons. We have lived in Minnetrista for over nine year, and I am thrilled to be serving the dental needs of the community.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor of Science in Microbiology – Arizona State University, 1996
- Masters in Public Health – University of Minnesota School of Public Health, 2000
- Doctor of Dental Surgery – University of Minnesota School of Dentistry, 2004
I have a strong commitment to education. I completed a master degree in public health prior to beginning dental school, which has reinforced my emphasis on prevention and education within my practice.
Since completing dental school, I have participated in hundreds of hours of advanced training in pediatric dentistry, aesthetic procedures, dental implants, gum surgeries, root canals and treatment of complex dental cases. I am currently participating in the continuum of coursework offered by the Kois Center in Seattle, a world leader in cosmetic and restorative dentistry. I choose to participate in continuing education in order to provide the best possible care to all of my patients.

Meet Dr. Mary Philp, DDS
Practicing in a closely-knit community feels like I get to spend every day with my friends and family! The patients at West Lakes Dentistry are friendly and truly care about their overall health. It's my job to make sure they maintain the best oral health possible in a manner custom-fit to their individual needs.
I am originally from the East Coast, where I spent my childhood in a quaint Connecticut town, but my husband, Dave, grew up right down the road in Waconia, MN. The decision to make our home here in Minnesota was an easy one as I have spent time in this state since I was thirteen, visiting family and fishing on Lake Waconia. We now live in Excelsior and enjoy all the outdoor activities Minnesota has to offer. Whether our weekends include shopping at local farmer's markets, running, camping or fishing on a lake up north, it's always nice to come home!
Education and Experience
- Doctor of Dental Surgery – University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine
- General Practice Residency – University of Minnesota, Fairview Hospital
My grandfathers were dentists, and I became interested in the profession as I spent time with them. They shared the belief that dentistry provides an opportunity to serve the community in a significant way. I took their passion for service with me as I attended dental school, where I actively volunteered within the local community as well as internationally in Guatemala. During my residency, I began volunteering at the Union Gospel Mission dental clinic where I treated patients and supervised dental students. I love working with people of all ages and needs because each patient represents a challenge to individualize education and treatment. My passion for general dentistry lies in the lasting relationships I build with my patients. I strongly believe in constantly finding ways to improve, and my continuing education focuses on techniques that enhance patient care and the "dental team" approach to comprehensive dentistry.
I am an active member of organized dentistry, and I served as president of my local student dental association chapter. I look forward to continuing my participation and leadership as I become involved with the Minnesota Dental Association. My favorite time of year is October when I get to visit my sister- and mother-in-laws' classrooms to teach their students about dental health.
I am excited to be a member of West Lakes Dentistry. I love this community and am honored to provide its members with my strong commitment to service.
